Welcome to the Centre for Renewable Energy Technology
The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) established the Centre for Renewable Energy Technology (CRET) in 2014 as a centre of excellence with a laser focus on developing innovative ideas and the human capacity to provide environmentally friendly and sustainable solutions to energy problems.
The foundational history of CRET was actually laid in 2011 when Professor Olurinde Lafe, founder of the MIDATCO development company, made contact with FUTA through Professor Joseph Fuwape. Professor Bisi Balogun was the FUTA VC at the time. After a number of meetings with the University Team, an MOU was executed between FUTA and MIDATCO with the goal of forging collaboration on renewable energy technologies. Professor Lafe subsequently submitted a proposal to FUTA for the establishment of CRET.
The actualization of CRET was fulfilled during the tenure of Professor Biyi Daramola as FUTA VC who put enormous effort and energy into the successful takeoff of the center.
